Why does Soundee not handle VAT for me directly?

Some platforms choose to act as the seller of record for all transactions. In that model, the platform itself invoices the customer, collects VAT, files VAT returns through the EU’s One-Stop Shop (OSS), and then pays creators their share. This shifts the VAT burden from the creator to the platform, but also means all sales legally go “through” the platform.

Soundee is structured differently. We give creators their own independent stores where:

  • Payments go directly into your connected PayPal or Stripe account.

  • Invoices are issued in your name.

  • You stay the legal supplier to your customer.

This gives you more control and flexibility over your business, while Soundee provides the tools you need to remain VAT compliant (automatic VAT rates, invoices with buyer/seller VAT IDs, and exportable reports)
