Why doesn’t the “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” option appear in PayPal checkout?

In some cases, PayPal may not show the “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” (Guest Checkout) option when customers check out through your Soundee store. This is due to how payment processing is handled depending on the cart contents and your connected payment methods.

1. One or more collaborators haven’t connected with PayPal Commerce (PPCP)

If the cart contains a product from a collaborator who hasn’t connected with our latest PayPal Commerce integration (PPCP), checkout will fall back to the legacy PayPal flow.

The legacy PayPal checkout does not support direct credit card payments — customers will only see the PayPal login option.

Solution: Ask all collaborators to connect with PPCP in their Soundee account to enable credit card payments via PayPal.

2. Stripe is connected alongside PayPal and no collaborators are in the cart

If you have both Stripe and PayPal connected and the cart does not include any collaborators, Soundee will process card payments via Stripe instead of PayPal. This is because Stripe generally offers lower fees and greater stability. In this case, the credit card option will be disabled for PayPal.

Note: Stripe doesn’t support split payments, so any cart with collaborators will fall back to PayPal for credit card processing (if PPCP is connected).

When all collaborators are connected with PPCP

If every collaborator on a product in the cart has connected with PPCP, PayPal credit card checkout will work as expected.

Quick Tip: If the card option is missing for PayPal in your store, check whether all collaborators have connected with PPCP first — this resolves the majority of cases.
